    Make of turbo MK7 GTI/R

Hi just wondering what type of turbo are in the new MK7 GTI/R? Is it still a K03/K04 Borg Warner or a IHI made turbo? Also are the vehicles still made in Germany that we receive in Australia? Looking at upgrade my APR Stage 2+ 08 MKV GTI next year to an R or another GTI... decisions decisions!

These would be covered under warranty... Hopefully even those that had been modded.

My understanding is the 4motion Golfs are still exclusive to Germany manufacturing, so that includes the R. Not sure about the GTI

That info is out of date. There have now been reported failures of the 722A. As of late October we're up to 722H apparently.

Does anyone have info on what changes were made to each revision of this turbo? We could find that the 722A failures were isolated/unrelated or on a much smaller scale than the earlier rev models. It would be surprising for a turbo manufacturer as big as IHI to continue to get the design wrong after so many revisions.
