Take it to your dealer for a checkup if convenient, would be better piece of mind.
Hey guys,
I am the proud owner of a new Golf Highline Wagon, and am a little concerned about a loud rattling/clicking sound on a cold startup. Have researched on the web with varying success, noisy lifters to noisy injectors on TSI engines. It does seem to get better/go away after the car has warmed up, but I have never encountered this on any of my other VW's.
Is it normal for this type of engine, or should I be taking it back to dealer for a looksee?
Cheers...

I think I have this same issue on my Golf 90TSI - on cold start-up sometimes I get a loud clicking sound. I always hear some kind of rattling or light grinding/rubbing sound... not sure how to describe it.
Coming up for my first service soon, so I'll be bringing these points up with the dealer.
