    Keep or sell?

Hi guys I'm the owner of a 13 week old VW GTI Performance, a car which set me back nearly $60 k. In a nutshell I can say that it's doin my head in. A number of issues have arisen but only one has been repaired.
1/. MIB 2 is a joke. Initially had complete head unit shutdown 3 days after purchase. Took it to dealer where they had it for a day . When I picked it up, was told all fixed. Tried to connect Bluetooth..didn't work. Nav.. Didn't work. Luckily hadn't left dealership. Booked in 3 weeks time- this took me to last Wednesday .. Went in 9am for a new update and left 1.30 pm with nothing resolved.
New head unit has to be ordered. No timeframe given.
Rang VW Customer Care, explained problems( 9 weeks ago) and sm still waiting for a customer care rep to call me.

2/ "Leather"steering wheel had marks on the leather and the plastic ( chrome ) top had dent. For such an expensive car, the leather feel was not much better than a cheap Toyota. No perforations.. No real leather feel.. like my previous MY6 GTI. Anyhow new one ordered - no marks- same feel.

3/ drivers side Rubber windscreen seal has a manufacturing fault. [IMG]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160318/94d657e61968654fcaecd6294f174a52.jpg[/IMG
This cut I was told , was done when I washed car with a high pressure hose!!
    A. Only ever used hose and bucket.
    B. What type of cheap rubber would it have to be, to suffer a cut, due to high pressure washing??

3/. I go for a drive and arrive at destination.
    A. Stop.. Place into P (ark) .. Car completely shuts down
    B. Stop.. Place into P(ark) .. Car engine shuts down but acc ( radio, ac etc) remains on. I then open the drivers door and acc switches off??
    C. Stop.. Place car into P( ark) .. Car engine remains on.. Acc remains on.. Open drivers door.. Both engine and Acc on!Keep or sell?
    What's it supposed to be???

4/ Arrive at a destination and locking of car via handle sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Forced to find fob and lock manually.

5/ Body assembly leaves a lot to be desired.
Eg bumper to body is not aligned properly.see pic

6/ want phone.. Pay $ 490 an you got it! Why put it in there in the first place? Ford has it in a $19k car free!

I'm seriously contemplating selling this " example of progressive German automotive excellence" Should have gone with Merc A45
Which was my other choice. Sorry VW.. Never again.

There is a fix for the MIB 2 no satnav and phone issues and it DOES NOT involve your dealer replacing the unit, tell them to not waste your time as this does not fix the issue, and VW technical have actually released the fix which can be done in house @ your dealer in approx 1-5 hours (depending on how switched on your technician is).

    2. I agree about the steering wheel completely! It is ****. Compared to the Mk6/5 GTI the steering wheels in the new Mk7 GTI and R all feel and look cheap, which they are, they don't feel as 'in touch' / sporty as previous versions, no gripe with you there.

    3. This is a interesting one, it does appear to have been caused by a high pressure hose to be honest, have you checked if your dealer uses high pressure hoses when cleaning? You seem to be the type of person who complains about everything so one could only assume you would have picked up on this @ time of delivery so evidently it has not been created by a manufacturing defect?

3/. A. Yep, this has all to do with your start - stop system, read your owners manual or turn the feature off.
    B. This is also NORMAL, read your owners manual or compare to another car (ANY VW), this is not a gripe with the car, but a gripe with yourself.
    C. Have you tried turning the key/stop start button off? Car is not a transformer and will not anticipate what you want to do/ do auto functions by itself e.g: will not make you dinner - stop expecting it too.

    4. Yep, sometimes it will work sometimes it will not, it is a flawless system if used properly, e.g: clean hands, proper amount of force, correct stroke of finger / handle placement etc. get your service dept. to explain/demonstrate to you exactly how this works.

    5. That is how they are, I think you're just being way too picky here, go have a look at how Toyota 'allign' their vehicles - you will not be impressed.

    6. Do your research next time, if I spend in excess of $60k on a car I would research all these things, found out you have to pay $490 for this feature then got the dealer to chuck it in for free! You seem to have done your research on a 19k car but not one you spent almost 3x the amount on??

Remember, if you sell it you will lose out a substantial amount of $, risk vs reward up to you, seems like you've made up your mind on selling it, jsut be warned, the A45 AMG is far from perfect/superior in itself, believe me, been there done that, should have burnt the thing.

I'm pretty pedantic and can see you have very high expectations as well. For me the rattles/creaks from the windows frames annoy me, fortunately there are "fixes" from Bunnings available.

I'm not sure what experiences you have form Merc. My friend's BMW also rattle/creaks like mad, and my previous brand new Porsche 911 rattled like a xxxx and multiple trips to the dealer coudn't fix them.

Does the golf GTI have keyless open and lock? I know it does have a push button to start/stop engine. I've already ordered mine but never any mention of that.

I just checked the latest brochure. KESSY is standard across all the performance range from MY16, which includes your GTI Mike. I love how it works on mine.

It did too, missed that small detail. I'll have to do a quick search but imagine so as well. Thank you for your response.

Sorry Mike, I edited my response after your last post without realising.

Your new GTI will definitely have KESSY.

Awesome! Love having a feature I didn't originally know I had haha. The car drove that nice, not many other things even mattered to me.
