Hi All
My 2016 Golf 110 TSI Highline has been written off after a crash last Monday. I am fully insured with the NRMA and as my car is under 2 years old, I am entitled to a new replacement. The NRMA advise they will first try to source a new 2016 (unused) 2016 model and if they cant will work up from there until they find a new one that matches. I cant see them finding a new series 7 highline somehow though.
Question is, they state I might have to pay a contribution towards this if there have been any model changes etc. Can they try to make me pay the difference between a new (7.5) highline and what mine was worth or are they bound to replace my car with a brand new 7.5 regardless of cost?
regards

be careful with the "new for old" ****e that insurance companies offer. It generally states they will try to source you a similar make/model of your car as a new replacement. What they generally don't tell you is that if they "in their opinion" cannot find a suitable make/model new replacement, they will just pay you out the value of your car. Which for most who have market value insurance, will be considerably less than new price car if the car is 23 months old... its like this lifetime new for old replacement that you can pay extra for, if they can't find you a suitable make/model, then they will just pay you out the current value of your car. eg. if you bought a 2017 Commodore SS, try getting a new replacement Commodore SS in a couple of years...not going to happen.

i had a subaru forester written a while back. it was about 15 months old. they tried to get out of new for old by saying the then current model was a new model. i looked at the specs and saw the only thing new was the stereo. after offering that i would take a new one with the stereo pulled out, they ended up coming around. stay on them. hassle daily and threaten the ombudsman. their employees’ jobs are to do everything to prevent a pay out.

I'm in same situation. Had an amarok highline 2l they don't make them anymore. (Only come in 3l now) they tried to give me lower spec one I refused so they ordered a brand new V6 highline... nothing to pay. Just stick with badge that what is important.
