How to turn radio off ?

Seems a simple question. Hope there's a simple answer.
Sometimes I'd like to turn off the radio, without turning off the media unit completely. (Discover Media, Generation 2)
How to keep the navigation on, with radio silence ?
Sometimes when having a conversation with a passenger, we'd like no radio, BUT still be able to hear the occasional turn-by-turn navigation instructions. So turning the volume down to zero is not a solution.
My car had its first service last week. Sadly I didn't ask the expert technician.

I’d just select Media and not set anything playing.

I am sure that turn by turn direction have a separate volume level you can control. So if you turn down the radio volume the TBT should still be heard. Will have to test to confirm to see if it is a system level or radio volume.

    Well team, thanks for suggestions.
Turning the volume down also mutes the turn-by-turn directions.
I tried selecting media, but it seems to insist on playing the next track from SD card.
Yes, I did read the fine manual (RTFM). I'm one of those old-fashioned types that usually reads a manual cover to cover before turning the device on.
I will also go read it again, just in case there's a hidden gem lying quietly in those pages.
Only way I can get this to work as desired is to use Android Auto, select an audio stream, then hit pause.
That shuts the device up, while still delivering navigation instructions.
Message to VW : It should NOT be this clumsy. Opportunity for improvement exists. Low hanging fruit. Yadda yadda.

Tested it this morning with Discover Pro 2 on the way to work.
Mute the radio, and check that the "Announcement" volume on the nav screen is not muted.

In my Golf I just tap the power button and it stops the music/radio, whatever I'm listening to. If I hold the power it shuts the system down completely.

Although I generally just put it into SD Card, BT or CarPlay and hit pause.

I’d actually prefer an on/off knob to kill the radio much quicker to be honest.

Radio is like an "app" in the multimedia centre. It's not a separate unit.

There needs to be a programmed "Radio Off" option, like shutting down the radio "app" part of the system while leaving everything else running. Shouldn't be hard to program.

Add it to the list along with a mute button on the steering wheel and the ability to reposition the touch screen menu options like repositioning apps on a phone.
