    GTI New Waterpump Design?

    My 2014 Golf GTI water pump was leaking.
    I started to swap it out today. I have almost finished.
    One point I noted, which is rather concerning, is that the new pump has a water port which is moulded closed, where the original pump on my car was open. Any ideas if this is normal/expected?

    So... it perplexes me but I installed the new pump and it all runs fine.
