Very sad day... got a call in the morning saying car didn't arrive from the compound and earliest delivery would be Monday.

    I expressed severe disappointment.

Junior salesperson had the audacity to call me back 2 minutes later saying that I could still come in and pay if I wanted to.

I don't think these forums are equipped to convey the blasting I gave him.

Got an apology from the general manager an hour ago.

Sorry to hear about your delayed delivery, did you pick it up today?

Nice timing - I was just going to post!

Well... it was worth the wait!

With 23km on the oddy from the dealership I was so giddy driving it home. Then had to leave it behind to go back to work! I just took it for a quick night spin around Sydney CBD/Southern Cross Dr.

It feels like the first time I drove my Mk6 GTI. It has me grinning and I can't wait to take it on the road again. So far I've been reasonably tame driving to loosen it up - but I gave it a decent go once it was warmed up. Comparing to my Mk6 GTI there's a few things that struck me:
    • Surprisingly feels more refined (not sure how they managed to make it feel like a step up!)
    • 1st/2nd gears more 'grippy' ?? ... i.e. no problem coasting over speed humps without any friction / feels less likely to stall. I wonder if this is due to the extra kW?
    • The pull and warble of launching into 3rd!
    • Improvement to the gearstick is very noticeable to me especially the the better clearance vs the front cluster
    • Initially missed the red glows but quickly appreciating the clean look that the white instrument lights give it
    • Not to jinx myself - but no rattles at all yet??

Car looks fantastic and I'm really appreciating some of the modern tech. Overall, very happy with my decision to upgrade. Might have to run some pointless driving errands this weekend!

At the dealership. (They're giving me first year's service for free to make up for the delay.)

Obligatory knob picture. Look at those sexy dimples.

Nice, I wish that the DSG cars got the golf ball look.

I saw a white ED40 in Chatswood/Willoughby yesterday around 12:15pm? I was in my other car and I couldn't say hi coz he just flew past me on the other side of the road. Just curious to see if it belongs to anyone here?

I saw a "40 Years" today at the start of the Pacific Motorway in grey. I've only seen a handful so far but see multiple "Golf R's" on a daily basis. Does anyone else like the fact that they are quite rare and certainly not as common as an "R". To be honest that put me off the "Golf R", the fact that there are so many of them about, plus I didn't find it as exciting to drive as the "40 Years.
