    Also considering the mustang...V8 ofcoarse.
Don't get me wrong I do enjoy my R, but the 4 cylinder engine is not quite cutting it for me. I didn't realize how much engine note meant to me till it was gone. The bell ringing turbo on the R is not helping either.

Another case of a manufacturer teasing an amazing looking car and coming out with dross (I'm looking at you Subaru!).

Obviously the latest link has shed more light on the car but comments about this being the car to beat are very wide of the mark. The R is comfortably faster.

I'm not sold. Not a fan of those wheels and the front fog light shrouds look tacky and out of place. I do like the wider grill on the front and the black stripes down the side seem to fit the car well, even if the fog shrouds were not there. Might look better in red to match the normal GTI? Is it 2 door only? I doubt we'll see it in Australia if that's the case, but maybe they'll make an exception?

I think you're better off buying a standard GTI or GTI Performance and having a tune done. Warranty issues are then a concern but you'll get a faster, cheaper*, and better looking car.

As always, each to their own of course

*Unless the engine blows up haha.

Judging by the pics 'Car Scoops' website: The Clubsport Golf GTI definitely looks to be lower than a standard Golf GTI ... perhaps 10mm lower. Maybe the Clubsport comes with VW Driver Sport springs & re-rated dampers or similar. Being 3 door, it will be quite light too ... easier on the consumables esp. on the track. I'd like to see a 5 door version, but somehow I don't think that'll be the case. They'd want to have it competitively priced ... otherwise a Golf R would most likely be the logical choice for the street. The Clubsport may be the more rewarding drive in dry conditions.

Will be interesting to see how they play this with the GTI, GTI PP, GTI Club and Scirocco R all being in pretty close range of each other but all out performed in terms of traction and power by the Golf R.

That's exactly the car I'm referencing. I'd be driving a WRX right now if the car they actually released was in any way, shape, or form, similar to the concept.
