Very tempting to slip into one of these come end of 2016:

In the dry, it could be the Golf to beat (not withstanding the R420 Golf).

Here another bit of info on the GTI Clubsport. 27.5K GBP equates to about 50K AUD roughly in terms of pricing I'm guessing? Could come in manual ... good for those that wanted a Manual PP GTI and missed out due to AUS market. Then again, the DSG should be something special. Not sure about the semi-slick tyres for road use:

GTI Clubsport or Mustang EcoBoost Coupe: may be a tough choice?

First video to emerge of the Golf 7 GTI Clubsport. Not sure about the missing centre console armrest? Need something for my arm to lean on to in longer journeys. The bucket seats are choice, not sure if VW has to delete the side seat airbags for those Recaro race seats. Looks like the Clubsport is sitting on lower suspension than any other Golf with ride height very low compared to standard GTI. Maybe it's running a set of factory coilovers? See video:

Mustang? Would it handle well?

Oh Yes ... a Mustang with the handling package. Not sure if that model is coming down under. Maybe, as the Stang would be fairly highly spec'd for AUS market. The Stang comes with LSD as standard. Otherwise: a set of H&R sway bars & H&R street comfort or KW street comfort coilovers for added handling and slightly lower stance would more than suffice on the new Mustang. They say the new Ecoboost Mustang is a cheaper version of a BMW 3 series in the way it drives, now that the Mustang has Independent Rear Suspension and stiffer chassis.
On the other hand, Chevy are releasing a 4cyl turbo Camaro ... not sure if the Chevy will arrive down under.
I'm guessing that the GTI Clubsport is basically a Seat Leon Coupe R + Track Pack that ran around the Nurburgring recently setting an impressive time that beat the Renault Megane RS265 ring time. It would be dead easy to specify the chassis tune from the Seat Coupe R for the Golf GTI. Internally the GTI and SEAT are essentially the one & same MQB platform.
Here's a another perspective on the interior of the new Clubsport. Not sure about the animated voice-over:
