GTI 6 speed vs 7 speed

I'm sure there's more knowledgeable people out there than me, but I cannot work it out.

    Which Mark 7 / 7.5's come with a 7 speed?

Driven both wet dsg's my vote is the 6 speed, I found the 7 just a bit odd, 1st too low and 7 too high. not sure of the ratios but after living with the 6 for a year now I have no complaints. it just works for me

I’ve just gone from a 6 speed MY16 GTI to a 7 speed MY19 GTI and it’s now done 40km (picked it up yesterday). Already loving sport mode. The 6 speed would hold onto second gear like it’s life depended on it. The 7 speed is way more versatile more fun to kick around in daily driving and the extra power and torque are very noticeable. Way too soon though to report fully with a judgement on what’s better. The lack of DSG farts is disappointing but the exhaust note has sooo much more bark!

    Nice,

Is The dry DSG7 you have mentioned the old DQ200? Do you know if there is any part number different from the old MK7 dry clutch?

Yep the Dq200 is the old 7 speed dry clutch its had a few revisions and clutch pack upgrades due to lots of warranty work

It's better than it was but still not a patch on the wet clutch Dq250 and Dq381
