OK I know this is an old thread but just to follow on... The car is now due for the 90,000km service. The VW schedule says "Toothed belt: Inspect belt at 90,000km" but then the next thing on the list is "Toothed belt: Renew toothed belt, tensioner and roller 7 years or 105,000km".
If the timing belt needs replacing at the next service, is it really necessary to inspect it at this service?
Inspect is probably a 2 minute job. You need to check for oil contamination, wear or damage. If it fails it needs to be changed ASAP.
Umai Naa!! and the other service guys, can you enlighten me as to what's involved for servicing the the 2018 mk7.5 Golf R ?
These are the 'set' prices I can see online on VW site but what I am trying to work out is gets done when ..
12 mth 15,000 etc - $452
24 mth 30,000 - $584 (brake fluid and pollen filter every 24 months)
36 mth 45,000 - $651 (haldex oil, air filter)
48 mth 60,000 - $821 (brake fluid and pollen filter every 24 months and spark plugs)
60 mth 75,000 - $386 (nothing out of the ordinary)
Does this look right ? Can you fill in the blanks for us ? Also why is the 12 month so exy ? I would have thought it's a normal service like the 60 mth which is only $386.
Also, at what point is the DSG serviced on the new DQ381 ?! Used to be 60,000 or 4 years on my old DQ250.

Get it serviced at an independant VW specialist and save yourself a good chunk of cash with the bonus of having a proper mechanic work on your car instead of a trainee at the VW dealer.
The 12 month/15,000km service is just an oil and oil filter change and a check over. A massive rip off and so are the subsequent services. You wouldn't have to try hard and im sure you could save at least $150 off those prices by going to an independant VW specialist (VW Village, Hills Eurohaus etc). Umai Naa!! is a mobile VW mechanic so hit him up too, he may travel to you area (although i believe he is based somewhere near Wollongong).
Also, the 60,000km/4yr service should include the DSG oil but the $821 does not seem to cover the labour and cost of this service considering the other items that are being changed during this service.

Definitely considering a specialist, just need to weigh up the goodwill for stuff like DSG and waterpump blowing up outside of warranty lol
That first 'set price' service cost has gone up by $75 from last year and I was just trying to see what has changed from last year's pricing or do they now include tyre kicking for an extra $75.
Regarding DSG - I can't find anywhere as being included for the mk7.5 in that 60,000 service. Maybe it's extra !

Don’t expect the goodwill be any different once your car is few years out of warranty. For just a year or two there’s consumer protection law should something expensive fail.

So ... what I was after more specifically was the requirements of servicing ie
24 mths - brake fluids and pollen
36 mths - haldex and air filter ?
48 mths - brake fluids and pollen and spark plugs
60 mths - standard
I've read US sites saying the DSG service is due at 130,000 miles for the mk7.5 7 speed ?! But that's not Australia. So can anyone fill in the blanks ?

According to my 2017 copy VW Oz's maintenance schedule:
Brake Fluid: every 2 years (but I've read elsewhere that the 1st change is after 3 years, then every 2 years after that)
Pollen Filter: every 2 years
Haldex: Oil every 3 years, but that doesn't include cleaning the filter which frequently block much sooner than that. I would change haldex oil & clean filter every 2 years or 30,000 km whichever was sooner (or more frequently if you invoke AWD a lot)
Air filter: every 45,000 km
Spark Plugs: every 60,000 Km
Fuel filter: every 60,000 km
DSG fluid: every 60,000 km
Note that if you drive less than 15,000 km a year many dealers will replace the distance due items well before they are actually needed as they bundle them in with the "60K" service (thus costing you money before it is required).
