Still getting my head around the Tyre/rim size numbers. 225 vs 235 is Tyre size, right? So a 235 would fit on a 7.5 rim? I assumed this isn’t the “correct” match, and an oversized tyre on a non-marching rim is bad news.

About the 18”, I suspect the dealers are just saying “yeah, I’ll get that price for you” because at this stage they wouldn’t want to be negative with a 70k purchase looming. I’ll report back on what happens.

    Yes, sorry.

Oops, forgot you were sticking OEM and 7.5" wide, I believe a 235 is still acceptable.

S’more pics from the dealer. He reckons the SE comes with the dynamic LED tails and mirrors. Can’t tell from the pics though, hopefully he’s right Golf R Special Edition

Man, not knowing too many details is bliss! The more I learn the better the car gets.

    Golf R Special Edition

Ha, I doubt it but I haven’t pushed yet. At the moment I’m trying to get initial pricing + delivery dates. I’ve put a deposit down with one dealer pending a test drive, and I figure once I do that and I’m there to pay I could haggle down a bit. Admittedly I’m not sure I can trust myself after a test drive so maybe I should start haggling beforehand…

One dealer’s come back with $1995 for a set of 18” Pretorias in silver, without tyres. Asked for a price with Michelin All Sports and see what they say. But at that price I’ll probably decline and look for aftermarket on my own. Or perhaps used.
