I highly doubt that. Don't forget the MK6 was made to help VW save $$$ as the MK5 was simply too expensive to keep on manufacturing. The underpinnings of the car are from the MK5 with some minor modifications.
The MK7 is a completely different car and built on VW Groups all new global platforms.
It is being publicly shown off at the Paris Motorshow in 3.5 months time.
Expected launch dates:
Europe: Late 2012/Early 2013
Australia: Mid 2013 (Q2/Q3)
GTI = Late 2013/2014 for Europe
GTI = Mid 2014 for Australia (remember 1 in 4 Golf sales are GTI in Australia, so we will have slightly more preference here)
R = Late 2014/2015 for Europe
R = Mid 2015 for Australia
Then all the special editions and cabriolet's can come out after that to keep people interested until the MK8 comes out.
So in terms of an 'Australian Launch', it will be this time next year. You may not be able to order custom orders or whatever, but that doesn't change the fact that it has launched in the country and can be driven and purchased.
