Anyone with the 135TDI? I am looking to hear what the fuel consumption is like compared to the official figures. Very tempted by the specs on these...
Cheers,
Karl

Hah rooboy is right its sportsmode pretty much everywhere lol
Even doing that and motor tight with 800km on it long term (from start) is 7.3ltr/100km and i am not taking it easy
Drove down to portsea about 170km round trip on weekend mix of freeway and 60/80km speeds
Was 5.4 average with 3 adults and 3 lots of golf gear clubs and buggies
Also keep in mind i have 19 inch rims with slightly wider(235/35 vs225/45) and sticky rubber than the stock
tyres i think if you drove normally once bedded in under 6tlr/100km would be easily achieved
I know one review got 5.9 average over thier test of about 600km
I on the other hand will be happy with 7ish as i give it plenty lol
The gearbox in the diesel the dq381 is a joy to drive btw best dsg i have driven and i have driven all the vw offerings

Thanks Kachingg. That sounds pretty promising. They tyres may not make too much difference, I've got 19's and PZero tyres on my Octavia and it gets better economy than my wife's Golf, both 110 TDI. I just want a bit more top end, love the engine until I floor it and then it disappoints. That's good about sport mode too, basically can't use it in our cars except for short drag races as the engine revs way too much.

Karl

If more omph is what you are after the 135tdi delivers in spades its the gtd motor stuffed into a awd platform really a match made in heaven it has buckets of torque but the best is the top end it really snarls and revs out willingly does not run out of puff (imo just a bit more would be perfect will be letting bed in for 12mths and then get a tune to 154kw and 450nm)
The gearbox sits the revs at cruising (whatever speed your doing) at about 1500rpm so virtually no turbo lag to be had only 200rpm to max torque and your off
Not like the dq250 6 speed in normal 1200rpm and buckets of lag till turbo spools up usually way to late
Or in sports reving its tits off and holding on to gears to long even with light throttle pressure
The 7 speed even in normal will kick down and rev up to 4000rpm if you give it a bootful
Sports mode tends to hold a gear lower so your in peak torque already usually 1700 or so rpm but the motor is vry unobtrusive into the cab the mating of the 2 makes a supurb unit
I think the r drivers will get a big kick out of it 2 as its fitted to their cars as well much better than a manual imo
I was a manual driver for a long time (5 speed car,6 speed bike,13 speed roadranger truck with no synchro,s)
But this box i would have over a manual no question
Do yourself a favor make sure you option it up the tech and sound system plus drivers display all well worth the extra
Resale will be much more with these items 2 cab feels premium with them

I think I saw you in Belgrave circa 2.30pm yesterday, just by the Woolies.
Your car looked wonderful!
I might have to hit you up on that offer to have a look at it when I'm seriously in the market for one (hopefully soon).
I had test drive of a 132tsi today while I'm waiting for my 135tdi to arrive. The 6spd dsg felt a lot quicker to respond on take off compared to the one in the Yeti so I can't wait to give the 7spd a go with the diesel. Very nice to drive and the adaptive cruise and auto braking work very well together.

Did it have the digital driving dash?
When adaptive cruise is on and your behind someone it shows green line up to your set speed if your going lower
Its the lazy way to travel in traffic just got to remember to brake if there is no one at the lights ahead of you.... had to stomp on the brakes the other day was about to sail right through a red light
How far away is your car rooboy? Won't be long now
I am getting 1000k check up on Thursday will pump the boss down at ftg vw about the dynamic indicators see whats up
