How much did the vw dealership service cost rooboy?
I am getting my between service oil and filter change tomorrow every 7.5k now

$310 for the first one. Got a replacement Golf to run around in for the day too...just not used to inserting a key to start anymore

Yeah i have issues with the key now just so used to leaving in my pocket
Not bad for a 1st service see what the later ones cost!
$256 for my oil and filter change at 22.5k the price of power lol

That will give me a comparison for my car when i get it done the amount i drive will only be another 4 months to the 30k mark

Very luxurious Kachingg. My white mirror caps arrived and are fitted, thanks to some videos on youtube. Car looks much better. I now want to source some 4-way headrests because I do a lot of snoozing in the passenger seat while wifey drives - I'm 73. I tried the ones from my Mk2 Tiguan and they fit, so the search has started. I also want extending sunvisors like our 2005 Mk5 GTI had, and the US Alltrack SEL has them. I will advise the outcome in due course. I like this VW ability to mix 'n match. Perhaps they should feature it in their advertising.

4-way headrests arrived yesterday and they fit! $US180 from AliExpress, leather covered, good quality. They only need to have an indent filed into one of the support rods to index with the retaining clip, although this is probably not really necessary.

.........................................And now onto the biggest minus and my question....the LED headlights! I love the cornering function, and I love the quality of the light.....BUT....the throw of the light (distance) is woeful in low beam. Travelling on unlit roads they just don't project far enough..whilst hard to quantify, the beam seems to properly light up around 3 car lengths ahead only (basically 3-4 "dashed" road lines). When the car is loaded with passengers, the beam is automatically adjusted down, the beam distance reducing again and frankly its dangerous. I spoke to the service department about having them adjusted on 1st service, to be told they aren't adjustable. Next service I'm going to be more forceful about having them checked/aligned....I doubt Ill get any favorable outcome...so VW will be my next step. I fear there is no solution and Ill just have to put up with them. Obviously high beam isn't always a solution, but the high beam is fantastic however!

Can anyone with LED headlights on their car make any comments about their performance? I've googled and cant find any other negative comments on factory LED headlights. Other than automatically lowering with load, they are OK on lit roads for obvious reasons....the roads are already lit!

Just a quick update if someone finds the same problem with the LED headlights. Went in to drive the Allspace Tiguan for the GF, and also spoke to one of the mechanics. He checked the settings, rekoned it was set for the wrong side of the road....woohoo thinks I - a solution. Wrong! Not only was the light more woeful, the cornering function is all but disabled. I now know this is normal behavior when you change from standard to opposite side in the menu. Anyway....he did also show me where you can manually adjust the headlight on the headlight unit.

The 30k service came up, I asked them to realign the headlights, not expecting any change, but not only was the service $100 cheaper than they quoted - the headlights are massively improved! The light is a little less focused up close but I am more than satisfied with the standard beam throw now - much improved So headlight alignment has solved the problem.

When we picked up the Tiguan, the salesman made a comment about the headlights (also LED) should be fine this time round.....but they are worse! So 1st service...align headlights please! The problem is not really evident on roads with streetlights, but on unlit streets, of which there are plenty around my area, it is truly scary - especially as many of those streets have no gutters, and telegraph poles are literally at the edge of the road surface on a couple of the roads I regularly travel.

The Allspace has the high beam assist....which I was nervous about using. Its just very alien leaving high beam on with approaching cars....but so far no-one has flashed me with the system activated! ....on the occasions I get to drive her car

I've replaced the tyres on the car....how lucky (sarcasm) front left outside edge was worn, front right inside edge was worn and rear tyre had a nail in the sidewall...grrrr. 29000km out of them.....not really good enough. I've changed them for Bridgestone RE050A which I had great success on another car....I must admit they don't seem as sharp as the stock Goodyear tyres...but they have great grip. Only done 1000km on them so time will tell.

Fuel economy continues to be good, long term average up a little to 6.4, but I've kind of given up chasing hugely low fuel economy and just enjoy the car!

Pull the Audi badge of the original and stick a VW decal on it. You can get them from eBay or AliExpress. I've had 3 sets of Audi wheels on the Skoda and I've done this each time. It passes the 1 metre test.

RE050A are a really old tyre now. They came out 15 years back. They are OK but nothing special. I've had 2 sets on the Skoda and am always surprised how much they spin. At least they last a reasonable amount (for a 180 TWR)
