2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).
Mine is the same and doesn't have the stud covers. Picked up Tuesday this week
When I followed it up with the dealer the checked it out and said that MY17 has stud covers and MY18 doesn't.
If anyone gets told differently I'll hassle the dealer again.
The brochure shows the wheels with and without them, depending on the photo.

Yup...it doesn't seem anything to do the which MY it is. All the ones I've seen are MY18 and 2 have had them, 2 haven't.
Indium Grey Golf 7.5 Alltrack 135tdi Premium - all options
Very tempting to go for the fully loaded 135tdi, until found out it missed out on the below "basic" features that are available in the other Golfs or Tiguan ranges:
- blind spot monitoring
- rear cross traffic alert
- hands free auto tail gate
The newly released Tiguan Adventure 132tsi with DAP seems to be a better alternative, with similar features, power/torque & price as the 135tdi, as well as the above 3 basic features.
Thoughts from anyone?
You don't need the powered tailgate its not heavy enough to need it unlike the suv brigade
Main reasons for not having rear cross traffic and blind spot monitors are the new cladding takes up the sensor space
As for needing it i don't miss it tbh your mirrors should be adjusted so you don't need blind spot and rear traffic i just turn my head and look
Also the 132tsi misses out on 100nm of torque the diesel gives extra and also the fantastic 7 speed dq381 its a absolutely rippa gearbox vw have nailed it with this one
The difference was also very noticeable between the 7 speed r and 6 speed gti with the r just seeming to be more composed and flowing shifts were better as well
Test drive them both to see i am sure a few others who have taken delivery will back me up
I drove the 162tsi tig at Phillip island vw experience last week and would happily put my diesel alltrack up against it and expect a draw at the minimum also a much better ride and handling with alltrack not suv like at all tig while good felt like a barge in comparison
In the end drive em both see if it really is a deal breaker or not
The alltrack may just win you over

2017 Golf Alltrack 135tdi All options
19 inch Brescia Wheels Golf R brakes front and rear
Calipers painted Candy apple gold
New rear sway bar and linkages
I was cross shopping the 110tdi Comfortline with the 135tdi Alltrack, both fully optioned, and the price difference was much bigger but, for me, the led headlights, better wheel/tyre combo and better drivetrain won out plus I saved about $5k.
The Adventure package makes things more interesting because it addresses the headlight, wheel/tyre combo issues and it closes the price gap a bit. The electric tailgate is nice to have when your hands are full but it wasn't really essential for me. You can't get leather but you do get the massage seat (worked very nicely on the Passat I tried last week)!
In the end you have to make your own decision on what features are more important for you but whichever way you go you won't be making a bad choice.
