Hi everyone,
Was a member long time ago but changed email (new me lol) and now I’m essentially starting from ‘zero’.
After missing my 09 Golf TSI, I went and bought (2 weeks ago) a 2015 WV Golf MK7 wagon 92TSI (DQ200) 140k km - didn’t have issues with gearbox, no crunching or anything noticeable.
Drove the car this morning for 5 minutes, went back in and it threw me a Gearbox Error. It won’t crank nor start.
I’ve heard and read of this issue a lot (this forum is doing god’s work).
I’m waiting for my friend to come and OBD it, but I’m fairly confident its the mechatronic.
My question is, has anyone had a mechatronic unit replaced out of warranty (this much out of warranty)? Am I hoping for nothing?
Thank you to everyone

hmm.........in 21st century - it's not necessary to "start from zero" simply because you "changed email"
If you want to be the "old-you" -do this:
- Log-in using your OLD identity
- Click on Settings - top right-side of screen
- Click on Edit Profile in My Settings section - middle page(left-side)
- Click on Edit Email & Password - follow prompts

PS: my suggestion - don't blame Tiptronics module until the diagnostics report identifies the offending equipment!!!
Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.
As above, you will need to have the car's ECU scanned to see what errors it is reporting, otherwise you may start spending lots of money and replacing parts which are not the problem.
You might get lucky in that its the microswitch on the gearstick that detects that the car is in Park and therefore allows the engine to start. This microswitch is quite common to fail or play up causing the car to not start. If this is the culprit, then its only a few hundred dollars for a new microswitch and your VW dealer can fit it.
As Lucas mentioned above, VW has microswitch fix solution for that (no need to change the whole gear selector), if that's the case, it will cost less than a couple hundreds dollars (from a VW dealership) and it can be installed at home if you have some basic knowledge. Generally will take you about 20min to install.
But as mentioned before, scan the car first to see exactly what the problem is. Mechatronics can be quite expensive to get fixed and you probably be able to find someone close to you.
