    footrest + pedal

On a right-hand-drive, that footrest alongside the gas pedal is mighty comfortable when using cruise control or speed limiter modes. However in cruise control mode I find the pedal is about 20 mm too close to the footrest. Especially when the car stops behind the car in front I tend to touch on the pedal and almost run into that cars' back.

Short of building up the pedal to block my foot going across from the footrest, has anyone modded a better way?

As you can tell, this car is so good I'm struggling to find improvement tweaks

Someone has told me about this item

    http://wctperformance.com/wct-perfor...-5-golf-gti-r/

Its' idea is to "slot between the gas pedal assembly and the bracket and cleverly utilize the stock mounting points for a painless installation. The result is an approximately 0.5" raise in the gas pedal height. In our testing, we find this height to be optimal for heel toeing under various conditions."

    Price $45.99

I have copied the principle of the idea, in a less elegant way, with a 20mm thick bit of automotive-grade, termite proofed wood on top of the o.e. pedal, secured with a zip/cable tie. The advantage of my design (patent pending) is that it does not change the geometry of the o.e. pedal and the cost was one cable tie.

This prototype has now passed all real-world testing with flying colors by a double-blind placebo crossover trial with a statistically significant sample of one.

URGENT SAFETY RECALL URGENT SAFETY RECALL URGENT SAFETY RECALL

Although initial testing revealed no issue with the above modification, subsequently inadvertent operation of the accelerator simultaneously with intended operation of the brake pedal occured on one isolated occasion.

ACTION: Drivers are advised not to use this modification.
