    Filling in number plate holes

    Hi guys,

Considering swapping the OEM black plastic number plate holder at the front for something smaller and getting all of the unnecessary holes filled in at a panel beater.

How much have people paid for this?

You’d be looking at a full respray of the bumper and I wouldn’t trust anyone to do it well to be honest. I used a so-called respected panel shop and had the clear coat peel off a couple of years later.

Given you have white, I’d just do what people usually do and buy the little stickers that some paces sell to cover the holes.

Personally I would question the need to do this. I really like the black number plate holder and I’m not a huge fan of messing with stock.

If you’re keen to make some changes to the car, maybe some tint and side windshields? Filling in number plate holes

I really like the look of the cars that have had it removed.

If you like the look and are willing to go through the hassle and pay the money needed, then have at it - it's your car, your time and your money.

Don’t waste money on a fill and respray and possibly crap results, just buy colour coded matching plugs, from here:Bumper Plugs

I did this to my white Mk7R. QLD plates just look stupid against it as it’s shaped for Euro plates and I didn’t want to pay $800+ for that.

So I removed the plate (and kept it if a future owner wanted to put it back) and used Bumper Plugs to fill the holes - was a great result and I was happy with the solution.

Or, just switch to a full-size 'euro' numberplate, and cover the extra area that way...
