So I picked up my Golf GTI mk7.5,
called Rob from CarTint in Melbourne, he suggested the GTI potentially not need tinting as it has "heat insulating tinted glass" already as standard on GTI.
However, does anyone know any details on the efficacy to block UVA/UVB/heat insulation, and the % of VLT it has etc?
I normally park my car outdoor and so heat insulation is important for summer, and right arms does get quite hot during driving.... so still debating if I need to do additional tinting.......umm
But Rob also mentioned that the tiny little front side vent window is extremely troublesome to tint , and thus most tintint company prob won't do it....Ummm I know frton windshield can't be darkened, but will i be able to put clear UV protection film instead?
Has anyone had it tinted in Melbourne??
Also did they have to measure the factory fitted VLT to determine what film to use?
Thanks!

Current car - MY18 GOLF GTI mk7.5 Indium grey with DAP and Infotainment package
First car - MY15 Honda Jazz VTi-S metallic steel grey
so I called and ask few place, only one said can do small window, but ended up not able to, just like Rob's said unless removing the door etc , it's too hard to reach and do a proper job for those tiny windows. I park my car outside thus still ended do the back and 4 doors tint, but i didn't choose the really dark looking tint so the small windows (which have very light tint) won't look too different.

There are plenty of places that can do the small window & if it's the Rob I'm thinking of, he doesn't like doing VWs as he has this weird desire to pull the door trims off.

I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
After having a Falcon with the darkest legal tint with the highest specs I could get in 2009 with a heat reflective windscreen and comparing to a factory MK7.5 Golf GTI I can say the Golf is cooler after sitting in the sun all day. Even with the sunroof. I tend to agree the factory glass is fine. All this is just going by feel though. I have no way to measure UVA/UVB. I could have a go at measuring temp though.
Not sure if this applies to the GTI, but I enquired about my R Wagon Wolfsburg and was told the following:
FRONT WINDOWS – LESS THAN 31% PENETRABILITY FOR UV RAYS
WINDSCREEN – LESS THAN 1% PENETRABILITY FOR UV RAYS
DARK TINTED REAR WINDOWS (rear side, rear and panoramic sunroof glass) – LESS THAN 5% PENETRABILITY FOR UV RAYS
