    ECS Tuning Clutch Bleeder Block

    Hi everyone,

I want to improve my clutch feel. I have already removed the clutch assist spring from the clutch pedal but I hate the woolliness that still remains, especially on fast changes 2-3 and 3-4.

I understand that the next logical step is to remove the restrictor in the bleed block. On this I have 2 questions:

    1. I've never bled lines on a car before (have done my MTB badly in the past) and I'm worried about stuffing it up.

    2. Is the ECS Tuning metal replacement worth the $$ (currently $120USD plus shipping)? Has anyone here fitted one?

I have a feeling this might help with my annoyances with the clutch engagement (leading to the car rolling on park brake release and a sensation of slipping on fast changes as it's far too easy to apply throttle before the clutch is fully engaged).

I'm keen to hear your thoughts.

You should try the OEM bleeder delay valve removal first Free MT6 wonder mod: OEM bleeder delay removal - GOLFMK7 - VW GTI MKVII Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVII Forum

I've done this, removed the clutch pedal spring and fitted a larger clutch pedal stop and it feels much better but still not perfect.

If I was going to try anything else I'd buy this https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part...006719ecs01~a/ and get it longer to remove the swirl valve located near the firewall

Perfect! That sounds like a winner to me!

3% gain for all those $$ doesn't seem worth it!

    Haha! Works for me.

The bleeding is the bit that worries me the most.

Just keep the reservoir topped up you can keep pumping that clutch pedal till you are happy.

A mate pumping the clutch helps otherwise a vacuum pump helps.

So I finally got around to doing the mod today. Huge difference in feel instantly. Not only was it easier to find the biting point but it was consistent each and every time too.

Even the stupid electric parking brake released correctly against the bite point (rather than some random point before it).

I also did the snow grill delete from the air box whilst I was at it! Not a bad bit of work.

    Dogbone insert is next.

I'm wondering if I should do this now that I've had my clutch replaced after only 30,000 kms? It just won't bite when changing quickly which is obviously how it got destroyed. I'm selling in November anyway when my wolfie arrives.
Any idea if this mod affects warranty? Would they even notice?
    Looking for:- RS4 B7 Avant.
Current:- Amarok V6 Sportline; Mazda CX-9 Azami AWD
Previous - Mk 6 R manual; Mk 7 R manual; Passat 130 TDi Wagon. Mk 7.5 Wolfsburg Wagon.

Unless they took the bleeder apart, I don't know if they could immediately tell. There's no visible external differences; the clutch action hasn't noticeably got heavier.

It will almost certainly void the warranty simply because the car is no longer factory spec. It is easily reversible though.
