    DSG Repair Advice

Hi all, I have a 2013 103TSI (Engine code CHPA) with 72,000km. Despite the low-ish KMs, the previous owners drove it around Sydney in the worst stop-start conditions. I'm only planning to hold onto this car for another 1-2 years.

The car makes a grinding sound when taking off from a standstill and often makes an awful juddering noise and vibration in 2nd gear uphill. OBDeleven shows code P177B00 "Clutch 1 tolerance limit reached". So clearly I'm up for a new clutch.

On this box (0AM) is it typical for the DMF to require replacement at the same time? Would another code be present for DMF failure?

I reduce costs, I am thinking of supplying parts to the mechanic. Is the LuK Clutch Kit LuK RepSet 2CT a solid product?

The Dual Mass Flywheel "should" be ok with relatively low km's, but the mechanic can inspect it for wear and tear and play when replacing the clutch packs. But I would not expect that you would need to change the DMF after only 72,000km.

As for the clutches, im suprised they lasted this long. I wonder if they have already been changed previously with the previous owner.

As for the clutch kit you have linked to, LUK are an OEM manufacturer, so no issues with quality etc. Just check your mechanic is happy for you to supply the parts as many mechanics do not allow that these days.

    Awesome, greatly appreciate the advice!

Theoretically, if the last owner drove it around with a worn clutch for a long period, would this lead to damaging the DMF?

In a traditional manual car - yes, it is possible to damage the mating surface of the flywheel from overheating clutches. In a DSG transmission with the way the clutches work - I dont think so. But im no DSG expert.
