Is this something I can retrofit to a car with the first gen DAP? Do I need to replace all sorts of parts for this to happen?

You need at least the following.

Glass that supports blind spot mirror
    Master and Slave radar modules
    Associated Wiring

Potentially need new mirrors however you could probably make up the wires and run your own through to either the door controller or bcm, i havenn't checked on wiring.

There is another post around on vwgolf.net.au for mirrors where i details the part numbers. you would be looking at least $2000 to retrofit.

And you need VW to do the calibration for you apparently.

I've read somewhere it's the same as Driver Assist Package 1, but now with blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. Can anyone confirm this please?

Hi. I have also recently noticed that the VW AU website is now suggesting that the new Golf (MKVII) is available with DAP II. You are very correct in that VW AU is pretty quiet about what exactly DAP II includes. I ordered a new Golf TSI103 with R-Line package and DAP in Feb and questioned the dealer just the other day about exactly what my vehicle would arrive with given I had noticed that DAP II was now being advertised on the AU website.

It would appear that new orders for MY15 Golf's from late Feb - early Mar 2015 will be delivered with DAP II (where ordered as an option). The dealer indicated that my vehicle would be DAP II equipped. It was suggested that this would mean the addition of Blind Spot Detection over and above the std DAP package.

As a newbie - I hope this helps!

I presume the functions are as listed in the MY15 brochure specifications.

    Driver assistance package - optional:
    Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Front Assist with City Emergency Brake (City EB) function
    Driving profile selection
Park Assist, parking bay and parallel parking assistance
    Proactive occupant protection system

A lot is listed as standard (except the poverty pack model which only has the first 2 and dealer accessory rear parking sensors):
    Driver assistance systems (standard):
    Driver Fatigue Detection system
ECO tip function, fuel efficiency advice
Parking distance sensors, front and rear with acoustic warning and audio volume level reduction when sensor warning is activated
Optical Parking System (OPS) in radio/navigation display
Automatic kerb function when reversing, passenger’s side exterior mirror
Rear View Camera (RVC) with static guidance lines

I presume with the optional package, the front parking sensors are deleted in favour of the front radar that runs the adaptive cruise and city emergency brake.

No idea what the "Proactive occupant protection system" is.

Blind spot is still not listed.

Front parking sensors are not deleted. Radar and asking sensors are both present.

Proactive occupant safety is closing windows to a crack and tightening seat belts when the car thinks you are being reckless.

    Hi All,

Have a GTI Performance with driver assistance package 2, picked up in late April. Everything has been working well until last week.

I dropped the car in to get a bushing/bearing in the front left wheel replaced, as it had been slightly noisy at hard lock since new. Part replaced no problem, noise gone. As I drove out of the dealer it flashed up on the MFD telling me that “Rear Traffic Alert / Blind Spot Monitor currently not avail.”

At the time I did not think much of it because the car was really dirty and I though it might just be a dirty sensor. Cleaned the car, no luck. Just took the car back to the dealer and they spent 20 minutes fiddling around trying to figure out what was going on but with no luck. They are telling me that I need to drop it in for a whole day so that they can take an extended look and try to figure out what is going on.

Has anyone seen this error before? Any ideas?

Get someone to scan the car with VCDS to get an idea of what the issue is. It should have logged a fault code. Surprised the dealer didn't check this actually.

Thanks Adam. Don't know of anyone with the Ross Tech cable. Have the car booked back in with the dealer for next Wednesday so will find out then. Disconnecting the battery for ten minutes to try and hard reset everything didn't work.
