Ahh it's different on colour mfd. in the TDI with DA1, it was black and white with the picture I described above
Do you have colour MFD? Or maybe the icon is different in DA2

Same picture in black n white . I don't think high line 103 has colour but it was too quick. I believe this is what the picture looked like.

The image on the right is the only thing I've seen when the system has alerted me to brake.

I get picture A most times, and I think I got picture B when a car detected with in the adaptive cruise radar set distance. When picture A comes there is no audible alert. So when u r concentrating on the road you miss it and all of a sudden car brakes if the car in front slows or stops suddenly because driver ignored to brake or take action . I wonder how to set it to make a sound when picture A is displayed!
I only get to drive it an hour or two in a week, because it's my wife's car. But these are the observations in that time. So I am sorry if I am wrong in my assumptions.

Picture A is the car telling you you are tailgating the car in front
The screen for front radar picking up a car during normal use is different to screen B. I've only ever seen B under duress together with the loud beeping noise and the brakes being jerked.

Haha I believe you
In all seriousness. Image A happens when you are following less than 2 seconds behind the car ahead I think.
B (at least on DA1) is when the emergency brake are going through the warning, jerk then full brake.
Normal front radar display looks like this (obviously in black and white and looks a lot crappier)
