Looks good but $4.5k is a massive ask and puts you right into Audi S3 pricing territory (which begs the question in my mind why not just get an S3 if the interior and nav are priorities?)
Hey dt, what is the Navigation performance like?
To elaborate, on the 5.8" I notice that after pressing the Navigation button there is some delay while the map (I assume) loads.
Also when the map is loaded and you press another button there is again a delay between pressing the first soft button and it actually responding to you and then it is sluggish when say typing an address etc.
Keen to know your thoughts - the infotainment was one of the big things I considered between the R and S3 since the Audi system seems miles ahead but function and performance-wise.

I think the Speed sign in the MFI is dependant on having a camera that recognises real life speed signs, and isn't a product of the Maps database. A Euro-only thing for now.
That looks awesome but $4,500 hurts. Overseas the Discover Nav to Discover Pro difference is about AUD 1,000 I think. In our cases the included nav becomes worthless so the true additional cost versus the UK is $3,500!
Stolen Merchandise from Lithuania gangs. That's being offered for $600 to us from time time.
Legally you cannot buy a unit at $1000 which as an option in Germany is $4000.
Same story like with RNS 510s from Lithuania / UK - $700 for a used unit that was knicked 3 days earlier from Berlin
Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.
I was just referring to the difference in cost of Discover Nav v Discover Pro from the factory for a UK buyer. But because the Discover Nav is standard on our cars, we have already paid for it within the overall cost of the car - it is a sunk cost.
Overseas your starting point is a car with Discover Media - the cost to spec the Discover Pro from the factory is about $2k or whatever it is.
For us, we have paid, say $1000 for the Discover Nav already and then we add the cost of the aftermarket system plus installation. There's nothing we can do about that, all I was pointing out was that the true cost of this v overseas is more than just the cost of the Discover Pro system, because we have paid for something that came with the car which we are now throwing away. Overseas buyers don't have to do that.
Component Protection is not taken off the stolen unit and after about a month when Interpol Germany sends the request to the Australian Interpol you get a visit from local Police Station. They will ask you where you got the unit and requests for the stolen parts to be handed over to them for investigation.
Happened to us with first DP unit which was purchased from the UK and arrived from Lithuania. Local VW said impossible to take CP off and we had to give the parts back the the local law enforcement. Seller is unreachable and monies lost.
Discovery Media is like RNS 315 vs RNS 510 scenario.
I understand where you are coming from Jimi.
Man, I really hate the system that VWA went with especially when they then dropped the Pro into the Skodas, but I don't $3.5k-4.5k hate it. But each to their own and it's good to see at least an option - and a neat fitment dtpearson.
I guess I fall into the andrew7 camp though.
On the flipside half my heritage is Lithuanian so I might need to see if I can organise a group buy with the relatives.
Kidding!
