Thumbs down Daylight Saving Time ?

Sadly, today is the end of DST in many parts of Oz.
Last nite, all my cheap devices (computers, tablets, phones, watch, bedside clock) automatically changed their clocks at circa 0300 hrs.
Alas it seems not the $60k car.
So in the car, I checked the settings, and its getting the time using GPS as expected.
Do I have to manually uncheck "Daylight Saving Time" in Settings, Date & Time ? And then re-check it again in October ?
Seems uncharacteristically unsophisticated, when all the other cheap devices do this by themselves with simple updates of the tzdata package.
    Current : 2017 Mk7 Golf R (most options) || 2012 Golf Mk6 TDi (few options)
Gone : 2004 Bora V6 4Motion (few klms, all options)

Yes, even in my half the price Golf you need to untick the summer time box for DST.
You would think if on GPS time the GPS would know if it is DST or not, hell my $150 Navman does.

IIRC GPS gives universal time, in UTC.
For the correct timezone, its up to the device to know (eg a watch or phone) or be told (eg computer) what timezone the user is in.
So I guess the car would need an additional tz setting saved in userspace, or do it automatically like a watch using GPS position.
Seems an easy opportunity for improvement. Should be low hanging fruit for VAG.

hmm........... there is an adaptation channel in MIBII modules called "Summertime-automatic". I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct channel for auto DST updates - because I don't have a MIBII unit,. Perhaps someone could confirm?

    Don
Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.

I can confirm it works Don.

Go into the Information Control Unit adaptations - Summertime-automatic and there is a selection of none, manual, Europe, USA or automatic. I selected automatic and confirmed it. I then rebooted the MIB and went into the time settings and the screen has changed completely.

    Thanks for replies above.
I'll look forward to trying it out, if ever my obdeleven dongle gets working again.
Voltas IT have pushed an update (version 0.9.3.0) and now I can't connect to the dongle.
Cleared the cache, restarted the phone, still stuck in an infinite loop wanting an update, after I already updated 3 times.
    Epic software fail.
As for DST setting, I might add this to the list for things to be done at next service.

I had a similar problem but it worked today. While the update is downloading, plug the dongle into the car, sign in to the app and connect to the car. Then let it update while it's connected. You'll get a message that you'll need sufficient charge in the phone so that it doesn't stop part way through. It works fine after that.

Sadly, can't do anything during download.

Touching the screen aborts the download.

Edit. What version are you now using ??

    The OBDeleven sofware sucks.
I just watched an update slowly complete to 100%, and now I still get the message :
    Please update application !

In Germany the time is automatically adjusted by the atomic clock. Its a signal sent throughout Germany and most "funk Uhr" clocks will adjust themselves and this includes clocks cars.
