    Cup holder cover jamming

The cover for the cup holders in the centre console in my mk7 90TSI has become hard to open all the way. It slides open freely until about 3/4 open then it jams. I then have to use a lot of force to open it completely.

Just wondering if anyone knows a easy fix for this? Otherwise I will take it to VW under warranty.

Mine developed the same problem. VW replaced it under warranty. I asked the service guy what caused it and he said they just bend sometimes, so not sure what caused it.

The reason is probably because all the backing tracks have fallen off the underside of that soft ribbed cover. Happens often enough. Just have to remove the entire centre console (not too hard just fiddly) then take out the cover so you can glue the ribs back into place. I have done it twice now on my 2013 90tsi.

Sounds like something that is better to get replaced by the dealer under warranty. If it was out of warranty I would take it apart and attempt a fix. Cheers guys.

ps. Sounds like writing up a how to guide would be well appreciated if you have to do it again tsommerville

Yeah. Deffinitely a walkthrough would be helpfull. Or atleast some few simple steps on how proceed with disassembling the whole console. How much time did it take to remove the whole console ?

Just had it fixed under warranty by Norris VW at Kedron Brisbane. Drove in at 8am, was out the driveway at 9am. Pretty happy with that.

@MikeB7 It only takes around 20 minutes to have the whole centre console trim removed and I may be doing this again on Sunday so I'll take a few happy snaps and throw them up here.
