Few years ago I had the same thing happen on my GTI and the insurance claim was so smooth, got a factory VW Windscreen and went to O'Brian centre in Ringwood to have it changed. Could not fault them at all.
So this time RACV have directed me to National Windscreens. I asked for O'Brian but apparently they are now not on their "partner network" and if I want to go with them then I have to pay and then they will reimburse me. Same for if I went and had it repaired at the dealership (who subcontract it anyway).
Anyone had a replacement with National before? I hope the jell fix will be enough this time around but I doubt it. My assessment is booked for Monday.
I had one done in a Passat and ins co gave me a number of a local guy who stuffed around a bit but did it at the dealers with a factory screen which you should INSIST on getting because of the cameras etc.
Mine cost $660 for the screen and about $800 for the installation and resetting up the cameras etc. Best $45 I ever spent
He did a very tidy job and Obriens being franchises are expensive and can be hit or miss
Eg Cruiser screen OBriens $560 Local guy same screen $245 and done in 90 mins.
Any of them can be iffy depending on the guy who does it rather than the company
