I’ve seen exactly the same thing on a mk7. Judging by the myriad of feedback on Facebook, I think it’s just a CTS thing

honestly looking at my gti last night, its far from a horrible design... id question how much difference there would be between and aftermarket pipe and pod filter vs just opening up the bottom of the standard airbox...

I installed a revo front intake on my diesel (not a gti/r i know lol) and i noticed a definite increase in torque and a better turbo spool time and that's just for the front air intake no turbo hose or filter/airbox mods

It removes all the restriction from the intake and engine is no longer sucking air out of the engine bay so all in all i am impressed

It looks quite nice in the carbon fibre to

Is this a pic installed in a 2018 golf R dsg? I'm hoping so as i would like to run this intake!
    Thanks in advance!

Thought I’d share my little addition today. Old thread I know but hey. Just installed the X34 Open Top carbon intake today by 034Motorsport. So far so good. Quality of the product is amazing, sounds very nice without being too over the top. Fits into the standard lower box. One very happy camper here. I have the CTS turbo inlet with it, very nice addition. Has added a bit more of a growl to the Akrapovic exhaust.
