Cold Air Intake for Mk7.5 Golf "R"

The engine compartment is NOT the same in both Mk7 and Mk7.5 Golf "R"s.

Has anyone actually installed successfully a CAI in A MK7.5 "R"?

I recently bought a CTS CAI but it doesn't fit by a long shot.
    CTS Turbo MK7 Intake (GTI/GolfR/Golf)

The problem is the Mk7.5 has a 20% bigger battery to cope this all the new tech and the start stop bull****. plus an additional panel between the battery and the fuse box.
Thus any CAI Air box designed for a Mk7 will not fit. Believe me I have tried and tried.

So, would like to go back to my first question.

Has anyone actually installed successfully a CAI in A MK7.5 "R". And if so what brand/model

    Regards

    Chris

I contacted the Australian Dealer who sells CTS intakes, he seemed interested. I sent him several photos. Dont know if anything will come of it. We just have to be aware.

Hard to say. Before buying I would ask something like does it fit the Mk7.5 with the larger battery.

I've installed a VWR R600 intake on my 7.5R and it fits perfectly.

I've also paired it up with a Turbo Technics inlet pipe.

Yes the tow most significant pics are below. One the CAI rubbing against the battery, its worse if you use the proper mounting

The other showing that with the air box pushed hard against the battery it still does not line up with the mounting tower.

Thats good to know at least we have a confirmation that one brand fits.

Where did you buy and how much?
how come the combination of VWR R600 intake and Technics pipe.

Ordered both from Regal Autosport in the UK. Can't remember the exact cost but I think it came to about $1,000 AUD including delivery.

The Turbo Technics gets a lot of good reviews, mostly from people in the UK where it's more widely available. It replaces the intake hose AND the turbo inlet elbow, so is a nice clean solution that ensures maximum flow into the turbo.

Overall very happy with it. Not sure on the performance gain but certainly the sound is better. I can hear that I'm actually driving a turbo car.
