Can this be repaired easy? Side skirt...

Noticed today under the drivers side door above the black skirting the metal has been pushed in.

No idea how this could have happened as there is no scratch, paint transfer or damaged from say a tow bar or bumper bar. My only guess is some one has kicked it in. Why... I don't know.

Is this a relatively easy repair or am I up for some big bucks?

Also what is the exact terminology for this particular part of the car?

    Any help appreciated.

Way too low for a tow bar or bumper. If I had to guess some sort of wheeled trolley - eg the ones in Ikea or Bunnings ie low at the front with sort of rubberised plastic bumpers on them.
I believe it is called a "side skirt", you would I reckon have to replace the whole piece and likely need to be painted as well. One of the paintless dent guys might be able to improve it by taking the whole skirt off and getting at it from the other side with a heat gun to try to "remould" it out flat. In any case for what it is assume it will be annoyingly expensive.

I'm not too familiar with your exact model of car
But i had dents in the underside of the skirt years ago, I caught the edge of a garden bed. It cost about $700 to have it pulled out and repainted.

Thanks guys. I didn't even think of a trolley, that makes sense and most likely what it was. I wish I'd noticed it earlier as I have a front and rear dash camera that records continuously but the impact mustn't have been hard enough to activate the g-sensor and lock the file.

I did ring a dent guy the other day but he said it was more of panel beaters job. I might call a few more and see what they say. It's a golf r grid and I've only had it 4 months so it's probably going to cost me a bit I may just leave it
