Buy now or wait until FY19 models

    Hi

Im in the market for a new Golf Highline. I understand that FY19 models may be available from October 2018 (?). Looking for any opinions on whether to buy now or wait until the new models / pricing arrives. My main concern is whether buying now, the car would depreciate more quickly, but perhaps this is offset by being able to get a better deal on the price. Any thoughts appreciated.

I reckon wait. Prices will fall on the MY18 as they run them out. The problem is, as they run out, your choice gets limited on colour and factory options in the MY18s.

When I got my GTI there was one in the country in the colour with the options. My option was to wait 4-6 months and save $3k in the process, or pay the early tax. I didn't wait, and just as well as the right buyers came along for our other cars.

Just buy it. If you wait till next year, then you’ll be asking should I wait till the Mk8 comes out and so on. You’ll end up waiting forever just to secure the latest model. Just like electronics.....

Agreed. Unless the MY19 model has a particular ‘must have’ feature, the MY18 on runout will be a fine choice.
