Can you show cases where that has happened with the JB1 once it has been removed? If you are saying it is 'safe to say' i gather you have something to back up your comment.

Good luck with the "hard facts" backing up that statement, it's going to be a long wait.

But it doesn't surprise me anymore. Every time, in every forum in such threads there is going to be someone kindly reminding you of the amazing capabilities of modern computers and ecu's because "well, computers can log everything surely..." (and I don't argue with that in general).

Of-course when the question rises of whether this undoubted computers capabilities have ever been used to deny a piggyback user a warranty claim a mystery silence and/or change of subject usually follow...

Why do I need to provide evidence of anything? Its just useful to provide a little balance so that people with no knowledge don't get suckered into this pretend argument that it is not detectable. I don't really mind what you fit to your car, it's your car - your money.

Given the number of ECU tuned cars over the years that had warranty claims passed I still say it's down to the dealer. I never said anything otherwise but then again I get the impression some people, like those who apparently drive the greatest car in the world, never let facts get in the way of their story.

If you honestly believe it is undetectable than good luck.. when in doubt invoke the George Costanza lie detector theory.

Good news. This would be awesome and would give me back some functionality I had with my old Mk5, AppRadio and DashCommand.

Many people have tested this. Literally hundreds in the USA. The ECU sees stock parameters. So if you remove it there is no trace.

The only trace could be if you didn't connect the wires back properly and they guessed you had been up to something.

I just finished installing my JB1 and took my GTI ED40 out for a quick drive. All I can say is WOW, it has totally transformed my car. For around $600, it's a no brainer. Can't wait to change the mapping tomorrow!!!

For those that ordered the cable as well (which is everyone). You have to remove the grey plastic cover from one end of the usb cable before screwing it onto the JB1 otherwise you won't be able to put the black covers back together. The whole install process took me 3 hours because (1) I didn't know about the need to remove the grey plastic cover from the usb cable (2) Took me a while to figure out where the jacking point is on the MK7 Golfs (3) Plug D is a bxtch!!! Watch this clip if you get stuck https://youtu.be/jiLLomQAcPo

Nice job posting the pics and video. Did you try routing the cable to the passenger glove box so it's easily accessible? I read that it's possible although don't know what extra mods it might require.

    PS.
Also, which "grey plastic cover" are you referring to? My cable has already a naked connector (not the usb one, the other) which seems to be going straight in (once I manage to open the JB1 enclosure). There is nothing to be removed from what I see.

During the purchase there where two options for the cable:

"With gray shell for most models"
    "VW"

Are you sure you selected the VW? Although yours were sent directly from the importer so maybe they messed smt up?
