Do we know approximately how long the wait is for more stock to arrive?

Very soon!!! To ship stock over doesn't actually take that long, it's the clearing of customs that takes up the most time.

It needs to be connected to work. If you take it off, your car goes back to totally stock. The JB1 is an piggyback style unit. This means that it intercepts the signals running between the engine and ECU and modifies them as required before sending them on their way. The ECU thinks it's talking directly to the engine, and the engine thinks it's being instructed by the ECU only.

The really attractive part of all this is that you can remove it and its very difficult to tell the car was ever tuned. Nothing is changed on the ECU, so no "naughty flags" are set for the dealer to screw you over with. The plan is to take mine off for each service.
That's very deceptive to try convince the potential buyers that the dealer can't see that the vehicle had a piggy back tune.
Those with enough knowledge how the computers work, also know that the computers incl these in your car like the engine and transmission ECU also log any abnormalities together with other data and just because you don't see them with your scanner/code reader, it doesn't mean that the logs aren't there.

I wasn't trying to be deceptive, so apologies if it came across that way. That said, I am by no means the first (in fact I'm waaaaayyyyy down the queue) person to make that statement. Apart from bang-for-buck it's arguably the biggest reason people go for these units and that fact is mentioned in almost every thread you'll find discussing the JB1. I also intentionally said "very difficult". I'm an engineer. I work with aviation control systems. I know full well there are other ways to tell things have been done so I was never going to say "impossible".

Honest question: Can you please provide technical evidence / facts that the piggy-box is indeed detectable and in which way (which blocks/values are the ones that reveal it, where and when this has happened etc.) by a dealer scan or you are just posting your speculation based on "enough computer knowledge" (which is true a few of us might also possess).

There's been plenty of discussions and explanations in other forums as to why the box is invisible to such scans, which is why people that had warranty claims (while being piggy-back users) got them through without any problems and as of today, the same remains true. This is not the case with ecu remaps and it is also known that people had warranty claims rejected when remaps were detected. This is the single most important piggy-back advantage to traditional remaps.

I was actually quite surprised to read your post until I noticed the "performance tuning from $660" in your signature which obviously explains a lot.

If you check out the JB1 threads elsewhere on the internet (USA Forums) you'll see it's the same story. Not a single warranty claim has ever been denied to a JB1 user (Except when they didn't remove it before a service! Fail.)

The thing dealers and VW are looking for are the flags, especially a TD1. The JB1 does not create a TD1 on the scan.

Even in that case, the only argument would be the (visual) discovery of some external device connected to the ECU which is a fail for sure. Unless they open the bonnet, you can have a dealer scanning your car all day long with the JB1 still connected and there is no possible way to detect anything (this is just how the system works, there's no flash counter as with remaps for example). In fact I think that this has been tested by someone with a mod-friendly dealer just to see what would happen, and... nothing. As if the unit was not there. Many threads on many forums about how and why (talking about the JB1 in specific).
