Hi guys, I have a 2013 mk7 tsi and wondering what brake pads to get. I need replacement fronts, it's only for street use and I drive like a grandma. Just looking for something that will last long and gives off not alot of brake dust. I had remsa's before but it's hard to find them now.
Thanks

As above, the ATE ceramics are very good but also quite expensive. I have used the Brembo ceramics on a few cars recently (including my own car) with excellent results and they are cheaper than the ATE's too. Same characteristics as the ATE's but cheaper. These should be the correct pads for your car (the Remsa equivalent part number is 151501 Link to Brembo brake pads for Mk7 TSI

It could also possibly be these brake pads, these have a Remsa equivalent part number of 160101 or 171000: Link to other possible brake pads

Thanks for the reply, just wondering are there any differences between the brembos and these DBA ones that a store suggested?

All 3 are pretty much within $20 of each other so happy to buy any
Saw this rather old post. I'm due for my first pads (all 4) but car only done 40k (which for city driving and still the originals I guess is ok). what is of concern is the mechanic said that especially the rears, the discs need replacing as with these sorts of cars, machining them is not a good idea. I do trust this guy as I have had him for many years and always does a good job with all my vehicles. The disk is considerably worn with a nice 2 ish mm rim now.
these ceramics you talk about.... do you need to also change the discs or can the normal discs work fine. And also how much longer do they last. (twice? 3 times? a 10k more)
But am interested before I commit to changing all 4 wheels with new discs and pads.
The factory pads have a high metallic content, hence why they wear very quickly and leave your wheels covered in horrible black brake dust. They provide good braking performance but absolutely chew through the pads and disks.
Sounds like you need new disks - disks are so cheap these days that it make not sense to machine them plus machining is only really done for light wear and light warping - not for heavy wear like what you are describing. if you replace them with VW parts then you will have the same scenario in another 40,000km's time.
The ceramic pads are much more gentle on the disks. Id confidently say they will last twice as long as the factory pads in my opinion. You will want to install the ceramic pads with new disks - but you don't need special disks - whatever brand you want to use is fine. Id recommend the Brembo disks and pads as a well priced option, I have fitted several sets of the Brembo's to my own car as well as family members cars and they are great.
That's terrific information. The total cost to replace all 4 (discs and Bendigo pads) aus$900 is what my mechanic quoted.

I'm going the DBA Street Performance pads when I need new ones, I love the semi-metallic feel.
I've just ordered a set for our Triton so I'm looking forward to that though I barely drive it.
Sadly they don't do these pads for the AW Polo, standard car at least.
