Blind spot monitoring/rear traffic alert turning off

Not sure if anyone has had this issue or if it’s been discussed here before.


I have a golf mk7.5 and when my park pilot is on or I press the button manually, it disables my blind spot monitoring and rear traffic alert. It’s driving me crazy because it’ll randomly disable it when I’m driving normally or parking the car.


I’ve reset the factory setting and it didn’t do anything. Any suggestions? I’ll be talking back to VW to check out but would like to avoid that if unnecessary.

I had a similar thing with my MY16 MK7. Didn't have any trouble with BSM & RTA disabling when using park assist, but had them randomly disabling while driving. I couldn't re-enable them until the car was switched off and back on again.
It took many visits to the dealer over about 6 months until they worked out it was the electronics in the passenger side mirror-glass. I was told the glass has electronics mounted on it for the BSM warning LED. Apparently, I was only the 2nd one in Aus to have the problem.
Once they replaced it, I never had the problem again.
Definitely take it back to the dealer and persist! Maybe even mention you've heard it can be a mirror!
