Would there be a catch if one bought this way (assuming the price was right)?

I have put out a request. Lets see what they come up with.
I had used a group called "Private Fleet" in the past, basically you tell them what you're after, they ask VW dealership to submit their best quotes, and if you like it, you buy it, and they will do everything for you, and on the day of delivery, a truck will show up with your car on the back.

Basically, the VW dealership pays their commission.

Thanks. Was the price better than what you could have negotiated yourself?

In that case, no, as it was on a Pajero Platinum edition which had a fix price, they were able to get all the extras I wanted for 1/2 price though.

Hmm... Just got the quotes. Cheapest one is $312 more than what I had. So these services don't really provide a better price.

It depends if you are happy to negotiate with the dealership or not. I work with a weird guy that thinks it's rude to ask for a discount. Subsequently he pays through the nose (plus a bit extra) for everything. For somebody like him, a buying service works very well.

IIRC, when i bought my car in 2008, the lease company was boasting about their superior buying power & I got my car for $3500 less than their best price because there was plenty of stock around.

Buying services are also good if their is a stock shortage as their discount is constant.

Yes, it's great service for anyone who wants to avoid dealing with car sales staff.

At the end of the day, I ended up buying my Pajero from a local dealership who gave me all the extras I wanted for zero dollars, so unless Private Fleet was going to pay me to buy from them, they weren't going to be better value.

Base 90tsi auto was advertised at 23,888 on carsales by one dealer in Sydney. I checked it out and it was a legit offer. To me it seems better than 23,373 for manual.

Not sure if this helps but I got 90 TSI DSG Comfortline for 28,900 AUD in early August. Also got the 6 years capped price and 3 years free service component prior to expiry of August.
That realistically saves 1-2k give or take right there.

But that was in early august I imagine prices are less now if the free service+roadside assist is no longer included.

You got a good deal angelus512. Plus you also get 5 dsg warranty.

I got mine mid August and i was not given 3 years free service component. Apparently it expired on the 1st of August.

I have raised it with VW customer care and I'm awaiting a response.

Does any one have a hard copy brochure?

For anyone interested here are the latest campaign prices.

    Cheers
