Question Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) needing calibration after wheel alignment?

Hey guys, I have been reading conflicting claims on other forums stating cars with ACC needs to have it calibrated when a wheel alignment is performed.

Has anyone here with ACC ever had to do this with wheel alignment? Or would a standard wheel alignment at your local tyre shop etc still be fine? Any dramas with ACC tracking after wheel alignment?

So I did some digging, and for everyone's benefit, I'll put my findings up here.

I spoke to VW first, who weren't quite sure, and said they'd call me back. So I spoke to a few tyre shops, none of them have the equipment to perform ACC calibration, and they couldn't tell me if it's required or not.

VW finally came through and informed me of the following:

    TL;DR:
Yes, it is true that a calibration may be required if your wheel alignment is really bad (if she's pulling hard). They said 9/10 cars don't need to have ACC calibrated when a wheel alignment is performed. The dealership I spoke to don't actually have the equipment, stating the work is done by their affiliate (wouldn't tell me who, no surprise there).

    I was quoted:

    $35 for wheel rotation
+ $77 for four wheel alignment (no ACC calibration)
+ $154 IF ACC calibration is required on top of the $77.

So there you go. Mine is not pulling, so I'm just going to take it to the local tyre shop to get my wheels rotated, and alignment checked / adjusted if necessary.

I had my Golf R done at Tyres and More at Strathpine and I don't have any issues.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) needing calibration after wheel alignment?

    Thanks Hillbilly.

I ended up taking the experimental route and had mine done at Tyreright at Wooloongabba this arvo. Awesome blokes, they have a Hunter machine as well! Top job.

My front total toe was out by 2mm, the backs were out bout 1.5mm. They fixed it all up, no complaints by ACC, so all good.

@Bora sport, thanks for recommending the shop at Strathpine, but when I called them, they weren't too sure about the ACC sensors, and the guy said to me he's never done New Golfs at the shop, so I went to the shop in Wooloongabba recommended by another member
