3.5 year/55,000 km service - Golf

So the dealer contact me this afternoon saying I am due for the post warranty service at 6 months/10,000 km limits.
I questioned that I can't find anywhere in my user or workshop manual about servicing at 55,000 kms or 3.5 years and asked what was involved, only to be told "your extended warranty states you must have 6 monthly services now. If something goes wrong with your Golf than you won't be covered."

So if I have the car serviced now at 55,000 km does it require another at 60,000 km IAW the workshop manual?
Is there now the requirement to service at 65,000 km, and what is involved in that?
How come VW make no mention about these extra services in any other markets? Gee even VW Australia customer service failed to understand what I was talking about!
What is the official VW fixed pricing for these services?

Additional details - large multi brand dealership. Extended warranty provided as part of all sales so nothing was paid for.

Sounds like you might have a dealer extended warranty (ie not an official VW warranty), and one of the dealer's conditions is that you have to spend lots of money on extra services that VW Oz don't believe are needed. If that is the case it is unsurprising that VW Oz know nothing about it.

I'd ask to for a written copy of all conditions for this warranty if you don't already have it. I won't be surprised if after reading all the exclusions, limitations and requirements, and then doing some basic calculations on costs vs benefits, you may decide it isn't worth having.

I had a VW extended warranty on my van and only had to have it serviced according to the official VW service schedule ie once a year or 15,000km, whichever came sooner).

If you recently purchased this car s'hand from the dealer then it is probably covered by a statutory warranty anyway.

He got it for free. Regarding official VW servicing interval 15,000km/12months, it’s only valid if you don’t drive under severe driving conditions and they’re very clear what these conditions are.

May be a bit of misunderstanding here, not trying to ask about this service but warning the community about this so called service.
A no cost additional warranty provided with a new car to extend the OEM warranty but only if I service at 6 monthly intervals.
Not backed by the OEM or VW Australia.
Doesn't really cover anything.
Cost of the additional service is not in accordance with VW schedule fixed pricing.

I had a woman on the phone yesterday telling me that if anything happened to my car from now on, unless I got in straight away, I would not be covered. But covered for what? I am outside the new car warranty period, if anything major goes wrong that I have redress under consumer laws, I still intend to service as per normal servicing periods and I didn't pay for an additional warranty which appears unable to even wipe that stuff off my shoes.

Due to replace the Golf shortly and was thinking returning to this dealership, but with this type of tactics I think I'll look elsewhere if it is another VW.

Fair enough. Sounds like it was on a s'hand car, not a new'un ( "outside the new car warranty period" ).

If you really want to help others avoid this particular dealer you need to Name & Shame them (or at least provide some hints to identify them).

If it's a VW dealer I'd report them to VW AU for a conflict of interest with VW policy.

That could be complete waste of time, since, as I understand from the title of the thread, the manufacturer warranty is over.
It looks like the OP got bonus when he was buying his car, an extended warranty offered by dealer not backed by VW AU, so it has nothing to do with them. The condition of such warranty is that the car must be serviced every 6months, I cannot see legally anything wrong with that.
