2015 Mk 7 Golf R - issues with thermostat and upper timing case?

Just bought a 2015 Mk 7 Golf R (~54k kms) and got its major service done, the dealer found these issues:

·Battery $524 (In stock) Failed Load Test
·Upper Timing Case Reseal $910 (Sydney) Leaking
    ·Thermostat Housing $1700 (Sydney) Leaking

Does the above prices sound right? I'm finding the thermostat one a bit difficult to believe

    Thanks

Our Polo battery failed load test 2 years ago Car still starts fine

Others might just need gaskets or tightening

Thermostat is not easy to get to near water pump which I believe has to be removed as well.

    Agree with Hillbilly.

My N9 Polo Gti battery failed load test as well, but was in service for ages before I replaced it.

You do konw dealers will charge like wounded bulls?

Get a reputable VW specialist to review and quote on your new purchase.

I had my water pump/thermostat replaced out of warranty by VAG specialist and I think it was around $1500+ installed as it’s a 4-5hr job and parts.

Battery I replaced last year and think it was around $450.

The dealers do generally charge more but these parts not cheap anyway.

I’d suggest getting haldex serviced and filter cleaned as this can lead to failure and another $1000+ repair bill.
