Cheers Brad. As mentioned above, I regularly check the other fluids and air in the car, but engine oil in my experience has been something that I only need to keep an eye out on the floor for puddles... Now I know the wiser.
As for service interval, the i20 also in the garage is on 15k intervals, it's had many services without incident.
The Toyotas and Mitsubishi were on 10k, but their service is arguably cheaper (by a significant margin, and I'll be clear I wasn't expecting VW to be cheap) and never had issues there either
I guess I'm just new to owning VWs and the concept of having to top up anything other than air and washer fluids between service. Learn something new everyday

Well when we were vanning around the country I checked Oil, water, tyres and other fluids EVERY MORNING.
You never know when something comes loose and best to find it at home rather than stranded in mid rush hour on a freeway or as in our case the middle of nowhere.

I wish i only had to add oil every 12k or so i have around 270000 km on my 2014 90 tsi comfortline i have been adding around a litre every week and a half as i do around 800 km a week mostly motor way driving .I would say i get about 1200km before neeing to add oil. I mostly use castrol edge 5w 30 LL .
