    Finally read the article.

The drivers seemed pretty complimentary of it, especially from a daily driver perspective.

    Good work and all that.

Maybe that'll happen next year...
The Viezu car did well for the time you had and the mods installed. I liked seeing a little bit of cosmetic mod along with the mechanics.

However, putting aside the results, it was really good to see such a wide range of cars and various levels of modification.

I do wish the editing of the mag had been better as I really enjoyed reading the info on each car and the tuner. In fact, I am still rereading them !

Well done to all of the entries.

OK. So here's the results with just bang for buck, 0-100 and 0-400m results used for total.

Golf R takes out top 4 places!!!!

And yes I agree that the classifications probably should be total cost of car including mods otherwise you could go completely nuts.

Yes. In reality the Golf R's are lined up in $ mod order which is what you'd expect out of reputable tuners. The more you spend the more you get (but with the law of diminshing returns kicking in).

If you draw a line through the over $75k cars in he sub $75k category then Veizu ended up in 3rd place on the above chart with a stage 1 tune - pretty impressive!!

Just had a chance to read the whole Motor Hot Tuner article - very impressive results for all Golf R. I also couldn't resist the urge to see how much was spent on engine mods for each Golf R against 0-100 time improvements.

my assumption on stock 0-100 may or may not be right, but the % improvement is relative. I was trying to work out how to more accurately model the $ to improvement curve, but probably hard to do with the variety of engine mods, non-linear, etc.

I like the idea of "bang for buck" as per earlier posts - a very real world sentiment...

Really great result Simon - both the "Joe Public" angle on your entry, as well as the times for "just" a tune and exhaust! fantastic!

...or, to get to that first place in that table, you needed to spend $26,000 to reach 0-100km/h time, 0.91s sooner.

yep, great way to look at it. the one that struck me was that you had to almost double your "investment" to get 0.1s (or 2%) improvement.

anyway, I'm sure this is not fully realistic / statistically accurate / like-for-like, etc, but very interesting nevertheless...
