Well done on the change of pace and direction Jimmy, you and the mini-macs will be all the happier and better for it I'm certain. I hope I haven't been too much of a pain in the arse over the years, and that we've given each other the patience needed to get through the comprehensively crud and undeserving situation we were both in because of a little twit who couldn't control a car, and through a long term project, both aspects could have turned out horrendously a million different ways with different people. I probably can't truthfully say I would do it all again if I had my time, but I can say that the result is something I am more than happy with, something I am proud of, and believe you should be as well. Your workmanship set the bar high for me to strive for (granted, never matched) in the rest of the car, and although time flew by we got the result in the end and some closure to it all.

It is a shame to see Alba closing the door (albeit not throwing away the key), but let's hope your occasional weekend gigs let you enjoy getting back to focusing on the fulfilment of the work, both in seeing a car fixed/improved and in seeing what that means to the attached enthusiast.

I'm probably juuuust stubborn enough to persist, but the lack of Alba will have a direct effect on my willingness to both recommend and purchase VWs and Audis in the future.

Also cheers for sharing your knowledge so that people can actually keep these cars on the road, and indulge in brands they may otherwise have to avoid for fear of costs and lack of knowledge.

Lastly, who let you out of the shed? Finish that Polo!

Joe, that is very much appreciated mate, . Yes the Mini macs are loving it already. Yes its a bit of a shame but im leaving with my head high mate, its not an easy gig doing it yourself. Anyway wont get into that too much as most have just no idea. Believe me with my new role the knowledge is getting tested to the max. Im dealing with stuff way deeper than what i was before but at least any injury may be a paper cut or 2 lol. Come sept its going to another level so im looking forward to that and lots of scope to climb the ladder so to speak. And with my spare time getting freed up im looking forward to finishing some projects, the VR and the Polo. Hope to see the VR vento at some meets, ill be attending some more of them now. I also do enjoy helping out on here when i can , of course there is a limit what you share
    Thanks again
    Jmac

I never got the chance to have you work on my car, but I've had the occasional chat for help.

Thanks for being obliging and a gentleman.

All the best for the future bro.

Only just saw this thread, hence the very late response.

All the best Jimmy and thanks for your advice on fitting the Cupra bushes to my Polo. I'm glad to hear you'll still be doing VW stuff on the side.

Ahhhh Jimmy, sad news for me but GREAT news for you! Niki and I would like to thank you for the excellent service you have always delivered over the past few years and wish you well in your new endeavors. And BRAVO for realising that the family were suffering and then doing something positive about it. Happy wife, happy life hey?

Now, about the front brakes on my transporter........ HA HA! only kidding.

    All the best,

    Pete and Niki.

    Golf Service

    Hi Jmac.

From your thread, I'm reading that you are still doing services? If so, I've heard good things about your work and would like to book in a 2007 VW Golf 2lt TDI, 60,000 service (including DSG) I'm not in a rush (still at 58,000) could you give me a quote on price and availability.

    Cheers D.

Sadly it may affect some of the community, i thank you all for your continued support over the years but to be honest wearing 20 hats has really worn thin and would like to wear only a couple now. I havent thought about it lightly, i have very loyal customers and only hope they have been happy with my service and what i provided albeit not being able to respond as quick as some would like. That leads me to the downside of it all that forced the need to move on. To those that i couldnt respond to at a split second, on christmas day or easter and at 10pm at night, that really wore thin. Im now focusing on my family and lastly me and my special projects that i have on the go. Really looking forward to them. Ill also still be a key player on here thats not going to change.
To the good part for some, i will be keeping hold of my business name as ill be importing parts, ie polo solid bushes etc and will be a list being coming soon, ill also be offering on request a Saturday service twice a month for anything like timing belts,DSG servicing servicing etc, pretty much anything really as long as i have plenty notice, so things may seem no different to some
Please let me take this opportunity to thank you all for your suport over the years its been much appreciated
And to those still continuing with me with the Saturday thing ill speak to you soon

    All the best
