    VAG-com for 2009 S8

I've been trying to communicate with dad's S8 through VAG-com but it simply won't let me. I've got both the hex and CAN cables, along with the new and old versions of the VCDS and I've tried in every way possible - I just get no response from the controller.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Cheers.

Because it's such a new (and expensive!) car - I wouldn't be surprised if Audi have blocked it from any communication with VCDS outside of their workshops until it's out of warranty.

I know they do a few things like this to stop people damaging the car and claiming warranty. That's the only thing I can think of, because like you said, you've tried everything.

Is it a proper Ross-Tech cable you are using? PM me if you like I'll have a look with you.

    Cheers

I was thinking that as well, I've noticed VW has even blocked out modules from their newer cars compared to the older models (2007 Jetta vs 2010 Jetta for example).

The CAN based cable is a Ross-Tech that I borrowed off a mate, the HEX is just some cheapy I believe. Since when have you been in Brisbane? I always thought you were down south... But sure, it'd be great to meet up and see if you can get it to work.
