    Pete's Audi A3 TDI

    Howdy folks!

Here is my 2012 Audi A3 Sportback 1.6TDI S-Tronic in stunning Dakota Grey.

This is the second Audi thats been in our garage. Its a lovely beast, extremely economical but not very quick at all. Probably getting a new 8V A3 1.8TFSI I thought I'd share this thread anyway!

    Specs are as follows...

    Colour: Dakota Grey Metallic
Engine: 1.6 Turbocharged and Intercooled four cylinder
    Power: 112kw with Custom Tune
    Torque: 309nm with Tune
    Transmission: 7 Speed S-Tronic
0-100: 8.3 with Launch Control (Timed)
Top Speed: Well, I'll fin out one day soon
    Tyres: Bridgestone Potenza RE002's
    Suspension: Standard
    Brakes: Standard
    Mods: Custom Tune
    Interior: Black Nappa Leather

    Options:
    -Leather
    -Heated seats
    -Bose Surround Sound
    -LED Lighting Package
    -Footwell lighting
    -Electric Seats
    -Voice Command System and Bluetooth

Not cheap compared to a comparable Golf but its such a lovely car & we got a great deal on the previous Audi. Here it is:

Thanks for viewing and I'm happy to answer any questions about it and 8P A3's. I love them!

If it doesn't get sold I will be modding away. Can anyone recomend some modification and tuning advice for the A3? I Haven't found much 1.6TDI wise thats why it currently just has the chip.

I also drive a 2011 Skoda Octavia 90TSI Wagon pretty much every day as it is my work vehicle, I will post a thread for that soon

    Cheers!

Pete, that's a really nice car. My current drive is a 2010 Golf MkVI 103TDI in United Grey with M/T, the colour of which isn't a lot different from your Dakota Grey. I am seriously thinking of getting an A3 Sportsback, but oh, how I'd love a third pedal in there with manual transmission to suit.

The Audis just ooze class, and yours is no different. LOVE the B&W photo, out of interest what camera did you use?

    Cheers man!

The new A3, the 8V in 1.8TFSI form would just be the best in manual form! Seriously consider one, they are great

And that photo believe it or not is actually taken by my I-Phone 4S haha. All I did was convert to black and white, otherwise unmodified!

I do enjoy driving my 103TDI M/T, so I hadn't really considered a 1.8TFSI. I must say, the new A3 Sedan looks REALLY interesting. If it's diesel with M/T, I'm in!

Liking this Dakota grey. I've been looking at some Audi's in lava grey, and that too has a similar feel. Slightly warmer than the Daytona and Monsoon greys they offer.

According to Audi Australia no M/T with diesel. Why, why, why, why? Who's responsible for making such a dumb decision. When Mrs Strat and I were over n Ireland and the UK recently almost all Audis we saw were diesel and nearly all of them were M/T. So why are Australian motorist being denied this?

I walked into an Audi dealership 1 yr ago and asked what wagon I could get in a manual, preferably diesel. They said only the base model A4 sedan in a manual, or the base model Q3, or base model A3. Anything else was DSG only. No Quattro, no 2.0TDI, no TSI.

I knew VW didnt do a manual wagon in the passat at all, so the Audi dealer did the great up sell, and told me to buy a skoda.

    So I did.......

I loved my Audi's but no manual is an immediate no.
    2001 - A4 B6 1.8T Sedan Manual - (sold @ 254,000km)
    2008 - A3 8P 1.9tdi Sportback Manual - (sold 90,000kms)

    2013 - Octavia RS wagon - 1z - Race Blue - TDI - 6M - Leather - MDI - Whispbar S44W - LED interior kit - RVC forward?/retrofit - Mk3 gear shifter
    2021 - Q3 S-Line wagon - F3 - Daytona Grey - Westfalia towbar - no other options available.

There are some bloody nice colours on the Audi palette that's for sure! The Monsoon Grey is another favorite of mine along with another Volcano Red

Damn, I wish they were going to be available in manual, even as a special order! Why can't they just do it as a Special Order only and then the people that really want one can get it. They will loose customers by not offering it I feel.

Don't worry man, I did the exact same thing basically!

I would have got a Passat Wagon or a A4 but no manual offerings, and I needed a wagon for work, to put the dog in and carry everything so I saved myself a hell of a lot of money and bought a base Octavia 90TSI Wagon and seriously, couldn't be happier! I'm even considering buying a Octavia RS to replace the A3 now as well :p

    A few updates...

Vehicle is now running a custom tune with reported more power and a torque. Getting a economy figure of 4.3L per 100 combined so very happy with that! Issues have arisen yet again regarding clutches on the vehicle, slipping from 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th. Was happening before the tune and now is getting worse again. Also having a weird issue with the fans staying on for up to 20 min after parked, even on cool days so need to get that seen too soon. Will be trading the vehicle soon so might not worry about fixing the problems. Pitty cause I absolutely love the thing!

Did some cleaning under the guards, underbody and wheels the other day.

    Thanks for looking
