    New Audi Owner - MY22 A4 45 S-Line

    Hi all,

I pick up a 2022 A4 45 S-Line (ex demo) from the dealer next week. I was seriously considering an Arteon 206 TSI Shooting brake, but the A4 came up and that's what I've got now!

Already learning a few things about it - like it's different to the "regular" B9 model (they're designating it as a B9.5). Biggest differences so far that I can tell are the engine has a mild (12v) hybrid component and apparently has a different ECU to the early 2021 (or earlier) B9s, and the styling's different again (the crease along the whole length of the car near the top of the doors now ends just into the front and rear doors). I'm sure I'll find lots of other things that are unique to the B9 as I go!

Initial plans are braided brake lines and better fluid. Longer term plans I'd like to find a set of S4 brakes for it (if they've changed things since the B9, it'll take a while for them to appear on the market, I'm sure).

    Update:

Not much has changed. Went down to 17" wheels to avoid someone I live with curbing the hell out of the factory 19" wheels.

ECU seems basically impossible to tune at this stage. Likely the person driving it currently will keep it, and I'll trade the Mazda CX-60 in on an S4 Avant.

    Yep, that's the one.

It's a really nice car. A little underpowered (at least compared to the previous car I had, a Kia Stinger GT). It sits a little lower than I'd like for the other driver (doesn't bother me, next car for me if things go right is the S4), and because of the introduction of the mild hybrid system and the associated new ECU, tuning it's a bit of a challenge - but I do like the fact it has "proper" rear-biased AWD (not on-demand, and not overdriving the rears to make it "feel" rear biased when it really isn't, like the current Golf Rs and I assume S3/RS3 do).

The A4/S4 have more space in the rear than the BMW 330i/M340i, which is important given I have two teenaged kids who are already over 6' tall (I'd love the latter if it came in a wagon, but we don't get that here in Aus - I'd wear the lack of rear foot room behind the driver to get an M340i Wagon).
