Hi, here is one to watch out for with all VW/Audi models. Vehicle presents with running faults (Audi A6) so you can just as well say a Passat Too. BBG engine (30v V6) . Vehicle cutting out and hunting when running. Do all the usual checks, air leaks etc. Scan with the trusted VAGCOM and have about 4 faults and none related to each other which was strange. Did measured values and they were all over the place. After several hours decided to diconnect the ecu to do a pin check and found coolant on the plug!!!! Coolant??? Coolant temp sensor was leaking out at the plug when warm and under pressure shooting the coolant into the wiring which tracked its way with capillary action all the way along the wiring loom to the ecu. Ecu was full of corrosion from the coolant. Coolant temp sensor was the issue but it took out the ecu in the process. Man this could happen to any vehicle. Water and electronics dont mix , and funny the thing ran worse when warm, when coolant was up to pressure.
I dont think this is a one off so bare it in mind when you have a head scratcher of a fault, as anything is possible.
Cheers
