Upon buying the car i could tell the clutch was quite worn, was relatively soft/spongey etc but nothing too bad, just recently the clutch is now playing up to the extent that I have to push it all the way in, and then after releasing it only 2-3 inches it bites and is fully engaged. The eentire clutch (minus the last little bit) is all slack when pushing on the pedal and also when changing in to reverse, there is a crunch almost as if the clutch has not been fully disengaged. If someone could point me in the right direction would be great, if this could be adjusted so the engage point was higher up in the clutch would be great , saving now for a new clutch but hoping it isn't a trams/gbox issue...?

Oh and it is a 1998 Audi a3 1.8t with 130,000ks on the clock
