Depends on the options you get. I saw it differ from 5k, and some 10k+. But seeing S3 sedan, there are alot more options you can go for rather than the Golf R
Hi Guys,
Sorry to bring up an old topic, just wondering if anyone cross shopped the S3 in sedan form? I was supposed to get something family friendly, but as soon as i drove the Mk7 Golf R i knew i had to have it....
But now guilt is kicking in and i know the S3 sedan is probably more practical for the kids. Does anyone know what the price difference on road is between the two?

GTI PP Mk7
My grandma used to say...
The Golf is bigger for passengers. The Audi obviously has a bigger boot but it's a sedan so not as practical. Not an issue if your wife drives a CX9... Price difference is around $10,000 depending on options. If it's around town stuff, and you don't have a baby with the capsule and massive pram, the Golf does just fine. I have 3 kids, one doesn't need a child seat anymore, and have no worries with school/sport/shopping runs.

Looking for:- RS4 B7 Avant.
Current:- Amarok V6 Sportline; Mazda CX-9 Azami AWD
Previous - Mk 6 R manual; Mk 7 R manual; Passat 130 TDi Wagon. Mk 7.5 Wolfsburg Wagon.
An S3 sedan in standard config on paper is approx $68k drive away. But most people tick the box for S Performance Pack which adds near $5000 on top.
Most have been able to negotiate around an 8% discount on the price.
Ordered - Audi S3 Sedan in Sepang Blue (BW 29)
Was fortunate in seeing a S3 Sedan in white at Audi Gold coast looks nice but very conservative , glad i went with the S3 Sportback
Very disappointed that it's only now being released in s tronic. Back to the hatchback me thinks.
I convinced my mrs to buy an s3 sedan as a potential family car (we don't have kids yet). It comes with metallic paint, performance pack and sunroof and cost around the 72 mark after a decent amount of discounting. I've been in a mk7 golf r and sat in an a3 sedan. I think the only advantage in terms of practicality is the larger boot space in the s3. CANT wait super excited.
Congrats on the purchase Will, how long do you have to wait, was it a dealer mod build or a factory order and that you have a 6 to 8 months wait? Plus, have you got an actual confirmed build date as yet?
We placed our order back in Feb, still waiting on a confirmed build date, was told it could be week 30 build slot, but won't believe that until we get physical confirmation of a print out of the build sheet and VIN.

Thanks buddy. Congrats on your order too. Ours was not a factory order. We initially wanted a glacier white with sunroof and 19's only. He showed us that there was one due to arrive in Sydney in August/September, but with a performance pack. Had we not secured this one, we'd have to do a factory order and potentially wait up to 8 months. I didn't ask for the build date, nor have I checked the invoice to see if it has it, but the ETA on ours was 31 Aug 2014. =)
I assume yours was a factory order. From my experience, factory orders through Audi and VW can take 6 months or longer. Which dealer did you order yours from?
