no joy with the pwm controller so i moved on to the brake install, simples...
it was pretty straight forward to remove the old calliper, the bolts were f king tight though so i had to jack both bolts off after visiting the hardware store to buy a 17mm socket. who doesn’t provide a 17mm socket in a socket set; I should have realised it was all going to go pete tong from that point forward...
a quick pic of the new calliper with the old discs while i was waiting for the wd40 to work its magic...
after the old disc was freed up i removed it and tried the new one, on the home straight or so i thought...
i installed the new braided brake line and noticed the bracket on the new calliper didn’t line up, this can be fixed at a later date by “realigning” the bracket...
excellent, now try and refit the wheels without the calliper hitting the back face of the spokes (where they start to curve in to the rim). you can imagine how overjoyed i was to find this out...
a quick pic of how it sat before i stripped all the new parts off and put it back to standard, oh yeah...
i decided to take a reference shot of the bolt length while i ponder my options to install spacers...
by this point i was well and truly over it and questioning my decision to modify a perfectly adequate car. i don't like adequate though so I started to narrow down my options; including the expensive option of purchasing bimoto wheels...
coincidently at this point i was due to catch up with Al to get his thoughts on going bt. i told him about the brakes and he suggested with additional camber the spacers might work. once again my faith was restored and it’s now booked in for a suspension set up, cheers Al...
